A Foxy Morning Greeting

When I awake each morning it is my habit first thing to open the blinds of the east facing front living room window. What a surprise this morning to find some sort of a hairy creature curled up asleep in the bright sun right by my front walkway. In my grogginess, I fled for my camera. Where did I last leave it?

I found the camera in time and took 3 pictures of him... or her. I have never seen a fox this close. It had a very long skinny furry reddish-orange body with a long pointed nose and angular eyes. And the mark of a fox - a long bushy tail and ears that stood straight upright.

These pictures were shot through the window. What he was about to do in the third picture was to turn around a few times, get comfortable and lay down again. So, I became more curious, and quietly as I could, opened the door to get a closer shot and OOPS! He arose and ran away. I wonder if it will return?

UPDATE:

I first saw Foxy on Tuesday, September 2nd. Just a week later on Monday September 8th I saw him again basking in the sun in the same location. He is easily frightened.   I believe now that I may have a resident fox.
