This is my mother as a teen ager riding past my grandmothers house on a residential street off of Main Street in Depew, NY.
I have heard so many stories from her about what a bustling hustling town it was in those days (it was, sad to say, quite dead and decrepit when I last saw it a few years ago).
The train came to and from Buffalo every day bringing many workers for the Symington Wayne Plant where the made train car axles and those huge couplers that connect one car to another.
There were restaurants, a movie theatre and many shops. When I was very young, my father used to take me there to get a haircut at this impossibly small barber shop with the classic red and white pole out front. I don't know if it is still there.
I would love to see any pictures taken in Depewin that era or hear any rememberances of those times.
