Place and Time

Amsterdam was the first stop on my four week journey through Europe.  Here I am in front of a giant fountain in the main park for the city.  The famous "I amsterdam" sign is in the background.  Along with the Rijksmuseum, which is the reddish castle looking building.  Our hotel was right around the corner from this museum and I often used its towers to find my way back.

We went to a bunch of the local pubs at night and basically walked around the entire city in the couple of days we were there.  Here's one of me and my friend playing pool in one of the smaller pubs we visited.

I was not able to take any pictures in my favorite museum, the Vincent van Gogh Museum.  There they had some of his masterpieces such as; Sunflowers, Irisis, and one of my all time favorite paintings, Branches of an Almond Tree in Bloom.  Another landmark we visited was the Anne Frank Museum.

Here are pictures of the statue of Anne Frank that was in front of the house, and on the right is the builiding  which  is around the actual  area she lived.  It is now encased in  what appeared metal bars to protect from any vandalism.
