The third stop on my trip, Dublin was one of my favorite places. Truly the sites were not magnificent as many of the other cities, but the people we met were the nicest of any country we visitied. The country itsef was beautiful as well. Here are two pics i took from the window of the plane as we were coming in. The first is a random little island I saw which I believe was part of Ireland, and the other is the coastline we saw right before landing.
Our hotel was in the Temple Bar district, which was by many cool little music stores, many of which sold vinyls, tattoo parlors, great restaurants, and pubs.
Here's the wall of fame, which i actually took a picture of from outside our window. It had many famous Dubliners upon it; including the former lead singer of the Pogues, Shane McGowan, Sinead O'Connor, and Joe Cocker. In the middle is a drawing of the front of one of the better lokking tattoo parlors, and to the left just a picture of one of the little cobblestone roads.
Our hotel also was very close to many of the major attractions of the town. Just up the street was the famous Dublin Castle. It was strange to see everything so modern around it, as you can see from the picture of one of the side gates with a little cafe next to it. The castle itself appeared much more modern than I had expected, although their still was some giant stone portions. The picture below shows the older looking part.If I remember correctly the castle had undergone pretty constant renovations during its use.
Heres a picture of me on the inside of the gate, and below a closeup of the statue at the top of the gateway. It appearsto be the god of justice, yet I think they forgot the blindfold.
