This picture is of me waving goodbye to my husband Bob on my last day in the classroom. It was a wonderful culmination of a very happy 33 year long career. My first 2 1/2 years were at a K-8 school, Vista Verde and the other 30 1/2 years were at Irvine High School. I was forunate to do what I loved, to have taught wonderful students and to have made many friends over the years. When my last class was finished, I said goodbye to my colleagues and my dear friend Joyce escorted me from my classroom to the parking lot, as I had done for her 7 years earlier. She then treated me to a wonderful lunch at Zov's in Newport Coast. I then went to my Mom and Sis's house where we had tea. My Mom and Sister had bought me a special retirement teacup.
This is me and Julio!! (In the classroom, not down by the school yard!!!)
Here are a few things that the kids wrote on my blackboard on my last day. It warms my heart everytime I think back on that day.
