I am in the middle, my sister Elaine on the left and brother Paul on the right. This characterizes so well my rememberances of winters in Upstate NY as a child. You could barely move in your snow suit and you usually had several layers underneath. Lancaster is in what is known as the "snow belt" where storms off Lake Erie can deposit prodigious amounts of snow.
I like to think that this day in particular was a "snow day" where the schools closed because of impassable roads. This was the very defintion of happiness for us back then. You can see what I believe are sled tracks in the background so we are probably standing at the bottom of a hill. A favorite passtime.
