How he proposed

As you probably recall, my dad is battling the most deadly kind of cancer during this time. One of my biggest fears was that I wouldn't get to have my dad walk me down the aisle or dance with me at my wedding someday.

After we'd been dating for a few months, I was headed up to Washington for another visit to my dad. Octavio decided to come along, which really meant a lot to me. It might be his only opportunity to ever meet my dad. We were there in Washington for about 4 days.

Before arriving in Washington, we bought tickets for the whole family to go to a big Mariner's game (Ken Griffey Jr's first game back in Seattle after leaving like 5-6 years earlier). We spent the whole day wondering around downtown before the game, which my family was meeting us at.

Sometime during the 7th or 8th inning, I noticed Octavio fishing around for something in his backpack. I turned to look, and he got down on his knees and asked me to marry him. I WAS SO SHOCKED! I immediately said yes...then asked him why the ring was inside a peach (in his hands he was holding a cored-out peach cut in half...the ring was inside the peach like a ring box).

He reminded me of a dream he'd had when we first started dating where the devil was chasing him. People told him if he had a peach he'd be safe. I had told him I'd be his peach...which I had totally forgotten about!

As Octavio and I floated home on a cloud, I learned that he had received my dad's blessing earlier that day. AND, as if that's not enough, while we were at the game, my brother had proposed to his girlfriend...not knowing that Octavio was going to propose at the same time! Small world!
