Place and Time

My great-great-great-grandfather Ole Christiansen Bjorge was born in Norway in 1824. At the age of twenty-one Ole purchased a farm in the town of Sande with his wife Ellen where they had five children including my great-great-grandfather Christian Olsen Bjorge. Norwegian middle names at this were often formed as a designation of one’s parentage. Hence, Ole’s son Christian received the middle name “Ole’s son” or “Olsen.”
