My encounter with a wild bear

When I was in high school, my brother, Yuen , and his friend , William took me and my sister , Lisa backpacking in the Sierra Mountains.  It was the first time Lisa and I went  camping/backpacking or even slept in the outdoor.  We stayed in a campground in Sequoia National Park the fist night.

We got there really late so we just slept outside without a tent.  The next morning, Yuen and William took the backpacks out the the car and went to get our packpacking permits.

Not even five minutes later, I opened my eyes and saw a eight foot bear looking right down at us, five feet away.  We used a noise maker that suppose to scare the bear but he (or she) just look at us and opened one of our packs, took a box of breakfast bars and ran away.

Lisa and I weren't even scared because we didn't know any better until we later saw all these pictures of bears breaking into cars and tearing apart iceboxes, etc.  By the way, my brother and his frient who had been camping for years were so mad that they had never seen a bear, let alone that close.
